2021 NFL Draft: AFC West mistakes that benefit Las Vegas Raiders in Round 1

Denver Broncos: Stick with Drew Lock

The Denver Broncos hold the No. 9 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, after finishing in the cellar of the AFC West last season. Last year, the Broncos rolled with former Missouri quarterback Drew Lock under center, and while he showed flashes at times, he struggled with inconsistent play, and untimely turnovers.

At No.9, the Broncos could be in line to grab one of the top-5 signal-callers in this draft class, all of whom have gotten positive draft buzz. The best thing the Broncos could do for the Raiders in this draft is to stick with Lock under center, passing on a new franchise quarterback, and going into next season with a player this Raiders defense has to be confident against.

The Raiders swept the season series against Lock and the Broncos last season, with the Silver and Black absolutely punishing him in the first game, forcing four interceptions. They have his number, and with two other elite quarterbacks in the division in Herbert and Patrick Mahomes, having Lock stay put in Denver after this draft would be a best-case scenario.
