Ranking the Las Vegas Raiders first-round picks since 2010

9. Henry Ruggs III: 2020 – 12th overall, Alabama

Another harsh pick to have Henry Ruggs ranked this low but similar to Damon Arnette, he struggled to make a consistent impact and dealt with injuries and COVID issues as well. The Raiders were looking for a number one receiver in the 2020 draft and rather than going with more traditional options like CeeDee Lamb or Jerry Jeudy, they chose the speedy Ruggs instead.

When Ruggs was on the field the Raider offense performed better than when he was not simply because teams had to account for his speed on every play. He made some splash plays here and there but the Raiders didn’t use the 12th overall pick for a decoy and occasional playmaker.

Just like Arnette, we will have to wait and see how a full NFL offseason program will help Ruggs develop but there are positive signs that he already looks bigger and stronger than he did in 2020. The Raiders need Ruggs to be at full strength for the offense to reach its full potential and if he can replicate his performance against the Chiefs at Arrowhead a few times then he will make his way up this list.
