2021 NFL Draft: Raiders have had success at No. 17 and 48 before

The Las Vegas Raiders’ first two picks come at No. 17 and No. 48, spots where they have had some incredible success before.

The 2021 NFL Draft will kick off on April 29, and the Las Vegas Raiders hold the No. 17 overall pick in the first round. While the Raiders have not had tremendous success in recent years in terms of their first-round pick, they have another chance to get it right next Thursday, as they look to finally get back to being a perennial playoff contender.

Their next selection will come at pick No. 48, which is halfway through the second round. Mayock was able to find a solid player in the second round back in 2019 in Clemson cornerback Trayvon Mullen, who has since become a legitimate CB1 at the NFL level. If they can find a piece like that in 2021 it will definitely be a win, and they could target the secondary once again.

Either way, the Raiders have to make sure they hit on their first two picks, as they have holes to fill on both sides of the ball, and have been relatively quiet in free agency. They also have back-to-back picks in the third round, but the first two selections are huge, and the Raiders have had success in these draft slots in the past.
