Safety was one of the most scrutinized and criticized positions during the 2020 season for the Las Vegas Raiders. Here is how they stand entering the 2021 NFL Draft.

The safety position for the Las Vegas Raiders was not only one of the worst on the team, but it was also one of the worst in the entire league during the 2020 NFL season.  Whether it was Johnathan Abram making game-changing mistakes, Erik Harris not being able to make plays, or just having Jeff Heath, Dallin Leavitt, or even old friend Darryl Worley coming back to play a few games at safety on the field, it was not a great situation.

The bottom line is the Raiders badly need an upgrade at this position group heading into next season.

They sort of addressed it recently with the signing of former Raiders’ first-round pick Karl Joseph, but most fans and draft pundits alike think the Raiders will pick a safety early in next week’s draft.  Whether or not they use a first or third-round pick on a safety, there are many interesting prospects in this year’s draft.

My personal favorite safety this draft is Jevon Holland of Oregon.  I think if he had played in the 2020 college football season he would’ve been right up there with Trevon Moehrig and Richie Grant as one of the top safeties in the class, but here is a look at the Raiders safety depth as it stands today.
