Las Vegas Raiders pre-2021 NFL Draft position review: Safety

Karl Joseph

Karl Joseph returns to the Raiders organization after one season away and will be expected to come in and help in the development of Abram in 2021. Most fans did not want KuJo to leave after a solid 2019 season, and now that he is back, he has spoken glowingly about how this is his home.

Playing in Cleveland in 2020, he was key in the team getting all the way to the Divisional Round, and hopefully, he can continue to develop now that he is back in the Silver and Black. Remember, he was a 2016 draft pick, so he is still young himself, but has proven to be a quality player at the NFL level, and will be a nice fit in Bradley’s scheme.

The exciting thing about this signing is that in 2019, before his season-ending injury, he was actually looking like he was starting to put it all together.  Karl Joseph may not be the game-changing safety we all thought he was gonna be in the 2016 NFL Draft, but he should be a solid fit within the cover-three system as the single-high safety.

Also, he can unload a ton of experience to Abram and whichever young safety the Raiders choose to draft next week.
