2021 NFL Draft: 7-round Las Vegas Raiders mock draft brings major haul
With the 79th pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, the Las Vegas Raiders select Paulson Adebo out of Stanford University. Adebo is a tall and athletic corner that came to Stanford as a four-star recruit and lived up to those big expectations after redshirting his freshman year.
As a redshirt freshman, Adebo lit up the Pac 12 with his play, starting 12 games and being named Second Team All-American and First Team All-Pac 12. He led the country in passes defended with 24 and led the Pac 12 in interceptions with 4. If he was draft-eligible after that season he likely would have been a first-round pick but he was still just a second-year player.
The questions around Adebo arose after the 2019 season where his play dipped from the 2018 level but he was still named First Team All-Pac 12 and lead Stanford in passes defended and interceptions. He was not able to improve upon that second season as he chose to opt-out of the 2020 season and elected to skip his senior year to enter the draft.
All in all, after 21 starts Adebo recorded 97 tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss, 34 passes defended, and 8 interceptions. He has the production to show he is ready for the next level even if he is a little low on experience but that could be a positive as he has less wear and tear on his body.
Adebo is a perfect fit for the Raiders as they are always looking for big, physical corners who are not afraid of contact. Measuring in at 6-1, 198lbs and running a 4.44 40 with 18 reps on the bench press, Adebo checks all of the physical as well as talent boxes to be a great corner in the NFL. The Raiders may be able to snag a first-round talent in the third round if Adebo is still on the board at the 79th pick.
