2021 NFL Draft: Ranking the Las Vegas Raiders draft needs

No. 1: Free Safety

One of the many consistent issues the Raiders have had over the years is the lack of awareness from our safeties, whether is it getting beat over the top time and time again, leaving their zones or missing tackles. Once again, this was an issue last season, as Erik Harris was clearly not the answer, Johnathan Abram had too many flaws to count, and although Jeff Heath played fairly well, he was not a starting-caliber player and is getting towards the end of his career.

The Raiders did go out and get Karl Joseph, a serviceable player but not exactly what we are looking for. Joseph could play FS or SS next year, but to be honest, both safety positions were a disaster last year, as is everywhere.

I am not sure if I want the Raiders to draft a safety in the first round, as the only player I would say is worth it is Trevon Moehrig, but with the questions surrounding Johnathan Abram and not knowing who our free safety will even be, we need an answer at the position.
