Raiders addressed needs on defense on Day 2

Overall the Raiders did well to address needs on defense. Now the question is, how will these guys be used?

Moehring’s position seems defined, but Koonce and Deablo will be interesting. Koonce is in line with the type of LEO Bradley would use, but Ngakoue and Crosby are already ideal in that role, so taking a backup designated pass rusher could be a loss of value. For Deablo, his playstyle fits the exact role the team hopes Johnathan Abram will play. He certainly has the ability to play WILL, so it’s not a bad move by the team, but Abram needs to really improve in 2021.

The Raiders got their guys, but the plans they have for those players will need to be monitored. Remember, the Raiders added a hybrid-type player in Tanner Muse in the 2020 NFL Draft, and he has the same kind of skill set as Deablo.

Also, Ngakoue and Maxx Crosby are going to be the starters on the edge for the most part, so Koonce could end up being a situational player. However, Moehrig is going to be a star, and overall, this was a great haul for the Silver and Black.
