Safety has been a major issue for the Las Vegas Raiders, but with their haul on Friday in the 2021 NFL Draft, they are finally set there.

The struggles of the Las Vegas Raiders defense in 2020 was no secret around the league. The defense was near the bottom half of the league in nearly every defensive category, and one of the least bright spots on an already porous defensive roster was the safety position.

The safety position in 2020, was a rotating downward spiral of Jeff Heath, Erik Harris, and Johnathan Abram. Besides Abram’s former first-round pedigree, nothing truly stands out with these players.

Abram himself played injured while making numerous coverage mistakes, shooting for the big hit instead of covering his man on more than countless plays throughout the season.

Fast forward to 2021, the Raiders are playing their second season in Las Vegas with fans attending on the horizon. The safety position is looking a lot different than the last season, as the Raiders are adding not only two new faces but also a familiar one.
