Las Vegas Raiders: Top free agency targets post-2021 NFL Draft

Jesse James, TE

It’s well known that Gruden loves tight ends, which is why it shouldn’t be out of the question that he would consider picking up another in free agency. Jesse James, a former Detroit Lion, and Pittsburgh Steeler could be a solid depth piece for the talented tight end group in Las Vegas.

During his time in Pittsburgh, James had some pretty solid performances, with his best coming in the 2018 season where he earned 423 receiving yards.

The reason why signing James makes sense is because he is a reliable tight end that can use his big, 6’7 frame to win contested catches and block on running downs. There also wouldn’t be too much pressure placed on James, as he would likely be used as a rotational weapon.

If Gruden wants to add another big-bodied, red-zone threat to the offense, then he should consider bringing James to the desert.
