Las Vegas Raiders: 3 players put on notice after the 2021 NFL Draft
Nevin Lawson
Similar to his teammate Johnathan Abram, Nevin Lawson’s future with the organization is also at a pivotal point after both the 2021 NFL Draft and free agency. Like the safety position, the Las Vegas Raiders cornerback room has also received a much-needed facelift.
The Silver and Black added former Carolina Panther cornerback Rasul Douglas in free agency. In addition to Douglas, they also acquired former Pro Bowl CB Casey Hayward.
Hayward reunites with his old defensive coaches in Gus Bradley and Ron Milus. His familiarity with the scheme will play a vital role and may ultimately push him into a starter role for the beginning of the 2021 regular season.
Lawson is facing a one-game suspension due to PED use to start the campaign, and he will have to prove himself in training camp. Potentially, these are the other players ahead of him on the depth at the position.
- Trayvon Mullen
- Casey Hayward
- Damon Arnette
- Rasul Douglas
- Nate Hobbs (rookie)
- Amik Robertson
It is not beyond the realm of possibility that the team elects to go with younger players with potential rather than a 29 y/o defensive back who has not recorded an interception in 88 career NFL games played.
