Las Vegas Raiders: Derek Carr should have his best year yet in 2021

2021 Season

There’s reason to believe that, in his fourth year in the Gruden offense, that Carr will continue to improve and produce. Sure, there will be a question of whether or not he will have enough protection with the revamped Las Vegas line. But with the familiar faces of Richie Incognito, Denzelle Good, and Kolton Miller, Carr should be fine.

The new starter, Andre James, has also been working with Carr this offseason to improve the chemistry between the quarterback and center.

Carr should also have a much better receiving group this season if Henry Ruggs and Bryan Edwards were able to improve in the offseason and remain healthy throughout the season. He’ll also have a new veteran threat in John Brown and his reliable third-down target, Hunter Renfrow.

Also, we can’t forget Darren Waller, who is now Las Vegas’ record holder for all-time receptions in a single season with 107 receptions. So, in 2021, Carr will have his fair share of reliable targets.

The Las Vegas defense should be improved this year, which will take pressure off Carr and the offense. Last season, it felt as though the team had to score on every drive just to remain in the game. By having a defense that can actually make a stop, Carr and Gruden can have more freedom, experiment with plays, and move down the field at a better pace.

Now, it’s still technically the offseason, so anything can happen, especially when Aaron Rodgers seems to be on the market. But if Las Vegas sticks with Carr, which I think they should, then there is no doubt in my mind that he will have the best season of his career in 2021.
