Las Vegas Raiders: 2021 Post-draft 53 man roster prediction

Running Backs: Josh Jacobs, Kenyan Drake, Trey Ragas, Alec Ingold

The Raiders currently have six running backs on the roster including Jalen Richard and Theo Riddick and we can expect them to keep four including fullback Alec Ingold. Ingold is locked in as the starting fullback after another strong season that saw his role as a receiver out of the backfield expand in 2020.

Josh Jacobs and Kenyan Drake form a dynamic duo at running back and they give the Raiders one of the best tandems at the position in the NFL. The decision to add Drake at his salary of two years, $14 million was a headscratcher for some as the Raiders already have a star in Jacobs but Gruden plans to use Drake all over the field.

The addition of Drake also will reduce some of the wear and tear on Jacobs as the season goes on.

The surprise addition to this roster is UDFA Trey Ragas out of Louisiana. Ragas is a power back who measures in at 5-10, 230lbs and had 3,500 yards and 38 touchdowns over 4 years with the Ragin Cajuns. He brings something different to the table than Drake and Jacobs and that is why we project him to make the roster over Theo Riddick and Jalen Richard.

Jalen Richard is a popular cut candidate as his release would save the Raiders $3.5 million against the cap this year and that money could be put towards addressing another position. Theo Riddick is also likely on the outside looking and could be a practice squad candidate if the NFL keeps the same rules about allowing veteran players in 2021.
