Las Vegas Raiders: 2021 Post-draft 53 man roster prediction

Cornerbacks: Trayvon Mullen, Isaiah Johnson, Damon Arnette, Rasul Douglas, Casey Heyward, Amik Robertson

After a season where they had one of the youngest cornerback groups in the NFL, the Raiders now have a solid mix of veterans and young players at the position. The additions of Rasul Douglas and Casey Heyward to the group are exactly what the Raiders have been missing and they present some intriguing options in the secondary.

Damon Arnette and Trayvon Mullen were the starters in 2020 but they should be on high alert with the arrival of the aforementioned veterans who have a history of making big plays. Both Douglas and Heyward have experience as outside and slot cornerbacks so they can push all of the youngsters for a starting role in 2021.

Rounding out the group are two other young players in Amik Robertson who will be fighting for the slot corner position and Isaiah Johnson who is currently the biggest corner on the roster at 6-2, 210lbs. Robertson looked out of his depth in 2020 but was learning the intricacies of being an inside corner after a college career where he excelled on the outside.

Johnson made some big plays, most notably against the Chargers, but also had some mistakes that make him a possible cut candidate.

This leaves rookie fifth-round pick, Nate Hobbs, on the outside looking in for now but he will be duking it out with Johnson for that final roster spot at the position. The Raiders have 4 other CBs on the roster currently and all apart from Nevin Lawson have a good chance of making the practice squad this year. Lawson is suspended for week one of this season and the influx of veterans at the position could see him released before the season.
