Las Vegas Raiders: Toughest stretch of 2021 schedule
Week 14 @ Kansas City Chiefs – Sunday, December 12
Just when we thought the Raiders wouldn’t have to make another trip to Arrowhead Stadium in December the NFL schedule-makers said better luck next time. For the 7th time since 2013, the Raiders will have to travel to Kansas City in December or later to take on the defending AFC Champions.
Last year the Raiders were able to secure a great win early in the season in a nearly empty Arrowhead Stadium that featured some huge plays from Derek Carr, Nelson Agholor, and even rookie Henry Ruggs. The same defense that struggled all season made some big plays by pressuring Patrick Mahomes and forcing a key turnover that really turned the tide in the game.
It was a comprehensive victory for the Raiders and possibly the best they played all season. Even the rubber match in Las Vegas was a thrilling game that came down to the final drive where unlike the first game the Raider defense couldn’t get a key stop.
This season it appears that weather will likely be a factor and though Derek Carr dispelled some of the myths around his supposed struggles in cold weather if he doesn’t play well in this game those same questions could return.
Aside from the weather and the difficulties around playing in a likely-full Arrowhead Stadium, this will be the second time in five weeks that the Raiders are facing the prohibitive favorites in the AFC and a team that is still favored by oddsmakers to win the Super Bowl.
