Las Vegas Raiders to face mostly non-elite QBs in 2021

The Elite (5 games)

  • Lamar Jackson (Baltimore), Patrick Mahomes 2x (Kansas City Chiefs), Justin Herbert 2x (Los Angeles Chargers)

As will be the case for the next ten-plus years, the Las Vegas Raiders will have at least four games against elite signal-callers every season. That is because Patrick Mahomes and Justin Herbert play in the AFC West, and they are both young quarterbacks who are still just entering their prime.

Herbert proved as a rookie that he can get the job done with his arm, and his legs, and was not afraid to take the big shot in the biggest of moments. Heading into Year 2, he is only going to get better, and, incredibly, the Chargers have transitioned so easily from Philip Rivers to Herbert.

The fifth game on their schedule where they play an elite quarterback comes right out of the gate, as they welcome the Baltimore Ravens to Allegiant Stadium for a Week 1 matchup on Monday Night Football. The Ravens have one of the more electric signal-callers in pro football in Lamar Jackson, who is going to test this new-look Raiders defense early and often.
