Las Vegas Raiders: 3 games with the most interesting storylines in 2021

Raiders vs Ravens: Week 1

The only thing worth looking forward to on Monday is some football, and Allegiant Stadium will play host to Monday Night Football’s season opener. Las Vegas welcomes the Baltimore Ravens in what will be the only Monday Night Football matchup in Week 1. It breaks a recent tradition of having two MNF games in the first week of the season.

There’s plenty of noteworthy storylines at play here, including Las Vegas’ defense holding the task of containing Lamar Jackson, the 2019 NFL MVP. Las Vegas ranked near the bottom of the league standings in bringing down the quarterback, and Jackson is in a league of his own in escaping the pocket. For the Raiders, with new free-agent additions like Yannick Ngakoue, it won’t just be about pressuring Lamar but also finishing the job in registering the sack.

A win against the Ravens could also extend the Raiders’ current Monday Night Football wins streak to four. The Raiders defeated the Broncos back to back on Christmas Eve in 2018 and the season opener in 2019. Las Vegas then opened Allegiant Stadium with its first win in Week 2 of last season over the New Orleans Saints, 34-24.
