Las Vegas Raiders: 3 bold, early offensive predictions for 2021

No. 2: Derek Carr throws for over 4,500 passing yards

Since Jon Gruden arrived back with the Raiders franchise as head coach, there have been two constants when it comes to Derek Carr. The first is, that rumors have swirled that Gruden and he did not mesh, and he was going to be shipped out of town, but every offseason comes and goes, and Carr is still the starting quarterback.

The other is the fact that Carr has gotten better every season in terms of his statistics, going over 4,000 yards in each of the last three seasons. He has only 17 interceptions in that time, is completing well over 65 percent of his passes, and has been a steady performer for a franchise that has needed that kind of leadership at quarterback.

In 2021, I believe that Carr takes another step forward, especially with all the weapons he has at his disposal entering Year 8 as the starter. He has an elite running back and tight end, outstanding weapons on the outside, and his revamped offensive line should give him more than enough time to throw.

Overall, I like Carr to throw for over 4,500 yards in 2021, especially with the extra game, giving him his career-high once again. Gruden is going to find plenty of ways to get all the new weapons involved, and Carr is going to be a big-time beneficiary of that.
