Wide Receivers

The Raiders used two draft picks on the wide receiver group in 2020, adding Henry Ruggs III in the first round, and then Bryan Edwards in the third. Unfortunately, both players did not impress in a big way as rookies, and are two players who really need to step up their game if the Raiders are to explode on offense.

Last season, Nelson Agholor was the top option at wide receiver for Carr, and he is now a member of the New England Patriots. The organization did bring in veterans like Willie Snead and John Brown, but if this offense is to take it to the next level, Ruggs and Edwards have to be as good as advertised coming out of college.

Sure, the Raiders have Darren Waller, and he is basically a wide receiver playing tight end, but they also need guys to step up and be able to exploit defenses deep. Based on production from last season, someone is going to have to do that in 2021.

All told, the Raiders certainly have enough talent to compete in the AFC this season, as the NFL goes to a 17-game format, and they look to continue to move the win total in the right direction. This is going to be a very interesting summer, as they have good players who will not make this roster, which is a problem they have not had as a franchise in quite some time.
