Las Vegas Raiders: Updated 2021 53-man roster projection heading into the summer

Safety (4): Johnathan Abram, Karl Joseph, Tre’Von Moehrig, Tyree Gillespie

Another position group that needed a major overhaul is the safety spot, and it is also another group of talent where I believe the upgrades were significant. Last season, Johnathan Abram was supposed to become a superstar, but he played inconsistent football all season long, and Jeff Heath was actually the best safety on the team.

In 2021, Abram is kind of in a make-or-break campaign, as it will be Year 3, and the team has to start thinking long-term about him. Karl Joseph was brought back and has the same skill set as Abram, while the organization used two draft picks on the position group as well.

One of the picks is one of the more exciting young players entering the franchise this offseason, as the team traded up to draft Tre’Von Moehrig in the second round. Moehrig is a perfect fit for what Bradley likes to do, and whether it is Abram or Joseph who starts alongside him, that is a big upgrade over last season.
