Las Vegas Raiders: 7 possible surprising cuts in 2021
Solomon Thomas, DT
This may be the biggest surprise of the article, but I am not sold on Solomon Thomas. The Raiders need help on the defensive line, and by bringing in Thomas as a free agent, they took a real flyer on someone who has yet to live up to his draft slot.
Thomas does have potential considering how well he played in college, but he has not been the same player ever since. In 2020, the Raiders failed to get any kind of push up front along the defensive line, and the hope is that players like Thomas can come in and make a big difference for the Silver and Black.
Thomas will most likely make the roster, but I don’t see him as a lock. He is a player that I could see coming to training camp and severely disappointing, being outplayed by players like Niles Scott, Darius Philon, and Kendal Vickers. If the move turns out to be a good one, I would certainly take that as well.
