Las Vegas Raiders: 3 best moves made during the 2021 offseason

Raiders sign Yannick Ngakoue

During the 2020 NFL season, the Raiders were able to get after the quarterback only 21 times, one of the worst marks in all of football. Sure, Maxx Crosby was able to rack up seven sacks, and continues to be one of the better young edge rushers in the league, but he needed help going into next season.

The Silver and Black got the help in the person of Yannick Ngakoue, a player who is not only going to improve the pass rush, but make this defense better as a whole. With Ngakoue, Crosby, and Clelin Ferrell on the edge, along with 2021 draft pick Malcolm Koonce, the edge rusher spot is definitely an area of improvement.

Playing in the AFC West, the Raiders have to go up against the likes of Patrick Mahomes and Justin Herbert twice a season, and Las Vegas will get a major test in Week 1, taking on Lamar Jackson and the Baltimore Ravens. That could be a statement game for Ngakoue, who played for Baltimore last season, and against a dynamic quarterback like Jackson out of the gate, we will get a good look at what this pass rush could be.
