Las Vegas Raiders 2021 Opponent Preview: Los Angeles Chargers

Las Vegas Keys to Victory

If Las Vegas plans to sweep Los Angeles in 2021, then it has to start with shutting down Justin Herbert. In his rookie campaign, Herbert threw for 4,336 yards and 31 touchdowns. Against Las Vegas, Herbert averaged over 300 passing yards and two touchdowns.

If Vegas wants to win, they need to disrupt Herbert so that he doesn’t play with the same efficiency that he did in 2020.

It’s also important that the young offensive line protects Derek Carr. Carr is a good quarterback when pressured, but the offensive line has to allow him to get comfortable and provide enough protection while plays develop. Los Angeles pass rusher Joey Bosa usually tends to be a problem for Las Vegas.

If they can keep him at bay, Carr will have plenty of time to reach Henry Ruggs and Darren Waller on well-developed routes.

Getting two wins against a talented Los Angeles team would be huge for Las Vegas. Both wins would be crucial in winning the division, making the playoffs, and maintaining momentum throughout the season.
