4 potential scapegoats if things go wrong for the Raiders in 2021

Yannick Ngakoue, Edge

The biggest move for the Raiders in free agency this offseason was Yannick Ngakoue, an edge rusher who played for both Minnesota and Baltimore this past season. Last season, the Raiders struggled in a big way to get after the quarterback, and the hope is, now that Ngakoue is aboard, they have enough talent to do just that.

Ngakoue is a former draft pick of Gus Bradley during his time as the Jacksonville Jaguars head coach, and he is used to Bradley’s scheme. Also, Ngakoue is a proven player in terms of making some disruptions in the backfield, making him a perfect compliment to guys like Maxx Crosby and Clelin Ferrell.

If the Raiders fail to get more sacks in 2021, it will certainly be because of Ngakoue in the fan base’s mind, as he was brought in here to possibly help the team double their 2020 total. Las Vegas has added big bodies to the interior, and bolstered their secondary, so pressuring the quarterback is going to improve, but if it does not, the fingers will be pointed at Ngakoue.
