4 potential scapegoats if things go wrong for the Raiders in 2021

Derek Carr, QB

Now was there any doubt that Derek Carr would be on the list?

The No. 1 scapegoat of many in the fan base since he took over as the starter in 2014, Carr has certainly had many highs, as well as many lows, but he has been outstanding under Jon Gruden. Throwing for over 4,000 yards every season, connecting on a high percentage of his throws, and minimizing interceptions, Carr has the stats that should correlate to being a perennial playoff contender.

However, based on the fact the team has been to the playoffs only once in his career, and he was hurt for the playoff game, there is still a lot of doubt surrounding him. He can silence all of that noise with another solid season, and getting the Raiders to the postseason, but if they fall short again, the fingers will definitely once again be pointed at No. 4.

Hopefully, we can revisit this piece next year and see that the Raiders actually played up to their potential, and these four players were a big reason why. Las Vegas has the talent to be a playoff team in 2021, but if any of these four players struggle, it could be another year watching the postseason on the television for this team.
