How the Darron Lee signing impacts the Las Vegas Raiders

What this Means for Las Vegas

This was a really good signing for Las Vegas. Lee won’t be expected to make a significant impact or even be a starter, but he’ll add some depth and experience to the Las Vegas linebacking core.

Throughout training camp, Lee will work with Nick Kwiatkoski, Cory Littleton, and Nick Morrow in his efforts to attain a roster spot when the season kicks off. If he impresses, he may be used as a fill-in when Kwiatkowski needs a rest or if one of the starters gets hurt.

He’ll also add some competition into the group, which hopefully makes the three starters work harder and perform at a higher level.

If the Lee signing doesn’t work out, then it’s not really an issue. His contract wasn’t hefty, and there was no expectation that he would be a star player for the team. This will be a benefit for Jon Gruden and Mike Mayock, who have been scrutinized for their free agent signings in the past.

If it pans out better than expected, then Gruden and Mayock will come out the other end looking like geniuses.
