The Las Vegas Raiders have veterans in their quarterback room in 2021, as Derek Carr continues to be the franchise guy under center.

As we get closer to the start of the Las Vegas Raiders 2021 training camp, we will begin to look at each position group a bit closer. This is a franchise that is looking to get back to being a perennial winner in the AFC, something that has not been the case over the last 20 years.

We begin our journey with the most important position in professional sports, the quarterback spot. The Raiders have solid talent there, and we take a look at the group heading into the summer months.

Who is here

The same trio is back from last year, as Derek Carr returns as the starting quarterback, followed by backups Marcus Mariota and Nathan Peterman. Carr has thrown for over 4,000 yards in each of his last three seasons, cut down on turnovers, and is completing passes at a very high rate.

Those kinds of stats should lead to wins, and despite improvements in the win column the last two years, the Raiders have still been left out of the playoffs. Mariota got to play a bit last season when Carr went down, and Peterman played in a blowout, but for the most part, it was Carr’s show once again in 2020.
