Las Vegas Raiders: Looking at some early 2022 NFL Mock Drafts

Sports Illustrated: Spencer Rattler, QB, Oklahoma

Yes, a quarterback.

It seems that NFL media is just hoping a praying for the Raiders to move on from Derek Carr, as they continue to have them taking a quarterback in the first round. And to be honest, until the Raiders make a postseason, we can expect that to continue.

This time it is Sports Illustrated, and they have the Raiders selecting Oklahoma’s Spencer Rattler.

"“Jon Gruden will be the first to take a risk on a quarterback in this exercise. Derek Carr is a starting-caliber signal-caller, but the Raiders need more flash from the quarterback position, and Rattler brings just that.”"

It appears that SI is not very high on the quarterback class in 2022, because although Rattler is the first quarterback off their board, it doesn’t come until pick No. 7. However, recent history has proven that the first QB rarely goes that late, but you never know.

Rattler is an intriguing prospect with his powerful arm and ability to make plays when things break down. We’ll have to see if he continues to progress from a promising 2020 season and if he does, he’s definitely in the running for QB1.

For the Raiders, fans will continue to debate the QB position well into the next draft, and if the team is drafting this high, the noise will be loud.
