Raiders roster: 3 teams that should trade for Jalen Richard

New York Jets

The New York Jets offense will look a bit different this season now that Robert Saleh is the new head coach of the group. This past spring, New York traded their “franchise quarterback,” Sam Darnold to the Carolina Panthers.

They also cut Le’Veon Bell midseason after he had disputes with then-head coach Adam Gase. To fill those voids, New York drafted Zach Wilson with the second pick in the 2021 NFL Draft and they also signed running back Tevin Coleman in free agency.

While Coleman is a good back, he can’t be your only top option on the roster. Looking at the roster, there really is no one else who jumps out as a viable number two back. If New York traded for Richard, he should be able to fill that role.

Coleman would take up most of the rushing duties, while Richard would be the teams top receiving back. He could function as a safety net for Wilson if a play starts to fall apart, similar to how he was used for Carr in 2018.

Richard would also be pretty cheap, as he only has a $3.5 million cap hit. It probably wouldn’t take a lot to trade for him either, as a mid-to-late round pick or depth player would probably get the job done if New York was serious about getting him.
