Ranking the 2021 AFC West WRs: Where the Las Vegas Raiders rank
4. Denver Broncos
The Denver Broncos looked like they were going to have an excellent receiving corps in 2020 as they added Jerry Jeudy to play opposite emerging star Courtland Sutton. The former SMU receiver was coming off a 1,100-yard season before he went down in Week 1 with an ACL injury and was placed on injured reserve.
Jeudy stepped in admirably and had a solid debut season with 856 yards and three touchdowns, but had to deal with a struggling Drew Lock and a rotating cast at quarterback that included a practice squad receiver. He now gets to play with a better quarterback in Teddy Bridgewater, if he wins the job, or Lock could prove that he has improved and that could lead to better chemistry with Jeudy and his other receivers.
After Jeudy and Sutton, the Broncos have some solid players in Tim Patrick and KJ Hamler but no one that opposing defenses really have to fear. All of them suffered from the poor play at the quarterback position, so the jury is still out on the younger members of the group but they did not show much in 2020.
If Sutton was not coming off a major injury then this group would be ranked ahead of Las Vegas but there is still a question of his health. He reportedly plans to be back in time for training camp but we have seen ACL injuries take closer to 18 months for a full recovery.
Denver has a potential star in Jeudy but he has had some issues with drops that could be attributed to either a lack of concentration or poor hands but either way it’s a concern. This group could be great in 2021 but there are plenty of unanswered questions which is a theme for the Silver and Black as well.
