Las Vegas Raiders 2021 Training Camp Preview: Running Back

Who makes the team?

Looking at the Raiders depth chart at this position group, it is clear that both Jacobs and Drake are already written in permanent marker for the Week 1 53-man roster. This is a duo that is going to give defenses fits, but it will be who makes the team behind them that will be the real storyline this summer.

Currently, Richard is still on the roster, and if he makes it all the way through training camp, I believe he will make the Week 1 group. However, he has struggled to keep hold of the ball recently, and while he is a tremendous pass-catcher, both Jacobs and Drake can fill in at that capacity during the regular season.

If Richard is gone, expect the Raiders to look for another body in camp, but also to see Riddick make the team. He is a guy who can come in and take a lot of the load off, Jacobs, especially in the physical run game, making him a crucial piece of the puzzle for this position group.

All told, my expectation is Jacobs, Drake, Riddick, and Ingold (FB) as the four backs breaking camp.
