Las Vegas Raiders rookies: What each draft pick will struggle with in 2021

Alex Leatherwood could struggle with the speed at the next level

During his time at Alabama, Alex Leatherwood was a key piece to the best offensive line in the country, as the group won the Joe Moore Award this past season. However, he did struggle at times for the Crimson Tide, and it was a bit of a surprise when the Raiders picked him with the No. 17 overall selection.

As a rookie, Leatherwood is going to be inserted into the starting lineup, as he will start at right tackle from Day 1. Kolton Miller dealt with the same kind of pressure as a rookie back in 2018, and as was the case with Miller, who has gone on to become an anchor for this Raiders offensive line, Leatherwood is going to struggle.

One of the big areas where Leatherwood could struggle is when it comes to the speed at the NFL level, as he did struggle in pass protection at Alabama. He is not as mobile as one would like, but hopefully, Tom Cable can get him squared away, and he can become an anchor along this offensive line for years to come.
