The Las Vegas Raiders have revamped their defense this offseason, and here is why they will be better than advertised in 2021.
For almost two decades, the Las Vegas Raiders defense has been an absolute dumpster fire. Even when the team had phenom Khalil Mack on the roster, the defense never was able to do much to stop the opposing team.
It’s not like Las Vegas hasn’t tried to resolve these issues, either. Over the years, the team has drafted players like Nnamdi Asomugha and Michael Huff, and they have signed free agents like Sean Smith and Justin Tuck.
But, no matter who they bring on the team, the defense never seems to find a way to be productive.
This trend has continued into the era of Jon Gruden and Mike Mayock, who have added players like Clelin Ferrell, Johnathan Abram, Cory Littleton, Carl Nassib, and Damon Arnette to the team. All of these players haven’t really lived up to expectations and they are part of the reason why the defense has continually struggled.
Honestly, though, the team’s defensive struggles this year feel different than most other years. It truly feels like, this year, the defense can turn the corner and do big things in 2021. Here is how they might do it.
