Las Vegas Raiders: 3 potential replacements for Marcus Mariota in 2022

Jacoby Brissett

Jacoby Brissett proved in 2019 that he could be a starting quarterback in the NFL, just not one that is going to win a lot of games. Brissett started a lot of games for the Colts in his few years there and is now projected to be the backup in Miami.

Unless Brissett gets an opportunity to start and makes the most of it, he will likely become a journeyman QB who backs up the starter on different teams with the hopes of getting his shot. If Brissett is a free agent next year, he could be the perfect replacement for Mariota, as he is someone with experience and one who could run Gruden’s offense.

Brissett would be a good project for Gruden to work on, and if Carr ever does go down, he has proven that he can perform, under a certain playbook. He can make plays with his legs, which Gruden loves, and under the right coach, could win a game or two if Carr is out.
