The Las Vegas Raiders have used plenty of high draft capital on the cornerback spot, and they continue in that trend in a recent 2022 NFL Mock Draft.

The Las Vegas Raiders have plenty of question marks heading into training camp, and there are still some key roles to be filled. This offseason, the front office once again did a lot of shuffling on both sides of the ball, including adding to all three levels of the defense and revamping the entire offensive line.

Looking ahead, the Silver and Black should be very competitive in the 2021 NFL season, possibly making a run at a playoff spot. However, we have seen this team collapse in recent seasons, never being able to put two halves of the football season together, so hopefully, that will all change this year.

As we inch closer to training camp, we are already seeing some early 2022 NFL Mock Drafts come out, and once again, the Raiders stick to the defensive backfield in the first round.

Raiders go with Cincinnati CB Ahmad Gardner at No. 12 overall

In his latest 2022 NFL Mock Draft over at Pro Football Network, Cam Mellor has the Raiders picking with the No. 12 overall selection. With the pick, they do not make any kind of shocking selection, instead, they go back to the well for another first-round defensive back.

This time, Mike Mayock, or whoever is drafting next offseason, pick Ahmad Gardner from the University of Cincinnati. According to Mellor, Gardner has tremendous coverage skills, good burst, and is someone who just does not give up the big play.

Sounds like a perfect addition for this defense.

It is no big secret that one of the starting cornerback spots is wide open heading into training camp, as we still do not know what we are going to get out of Damon Arnette in Year 2. Sure, Casey Hayward was a nice get in free agency, but if the Raiders are looking long-term at the position, that answer just may not be on the roster right now, making cornerback a draft target again in 2022.
