Las Vegas Raiders: Previewing the 2021 Philadelphia Eagles

Eagles Offense Outlook

It’s kind of crazy to think that just a few years ago the Eagles beat Tom Brady and the New England Patriots in the Super Bowl with a backup quarterback, who Raiders fans are quite familiar with.  Now, in 2021, both quarterbacks who played on that team are gone, along with the entire coaching staff after Doug Pederson allegedly stood his ground to ownership about firing some of his assistant coaches.

The starting quarterback for that season, Carson Wentz, also got shipped out to Indianapolis this offseason after a tumultuous last two seasons with the Eagles. Super Bowl MVP Nick Foles left after the 2018 season to play for the Jaguars, but after a failed season he got traded to the Bears.

The presumed starting quarterback is Jalen Hurts, even though the Eagles’ new head coach and former Colts Offensive Coordinator Nick Sirianni has declined to officially name one yet, saying that veterans Joe Flacco and Nick Mullen still have a chance to beat him out. However, I personally believe the decision is made, and Hurts is the starter.

They also officially have moved on from Desean Jackson, releasing him this past offseason while bringing back tight end Richard Rogers and running back Boston Scott.  The only other major addition to the offense, other than picking up former Detroit Lions running back Kerryon Johnson, was drafting last season’s Heisman Trophy winner DeVonta Smith with the 10th overall pick.
