Las Vegas Raiders: 5 bold training camp predictions in 2021
Solomon Thomas becomes an important part of the defense
It’s always been said that a change of scenery could be exactly what a struggling player needs to get their career back on track. For Solomon Thomas, that seems to be the case.
Last season, it was obvious that Las Vegas’ defensive line struggled to make plays and really needed to get some help during the offseason. So to address these issues, the team brought in Yannick Ngakoue, Quinton Jefferson, and Thomas. The first two were expected to have a big impact on the team and are expected to be starters in week one.
But, because of Thomas’ disappointing career, he remained a bit of a question mark.
4 Las Vegas Raiders that will be starters by this time next season
The Las Vegas Raiders roster has solid depth at several different position groups, including some who have 2022 starters as backups in 2021.
It seems, though, that Thomas has been an impressive presence so far at camp. He’s been gelling well with the defensive line, and he has been showing flashes of the talent that made him the third overall pick. Thomas may really be able to carve out a role for himself as a run-stopper, both on the inside of the line and on the edge. If he does, then he will be a great player to add to the already diverse and deep defensive line group.
