The Las Vegas Raiders are a week into training camp and here are five players trending up based on reports from Henderson.

Training camp battles are heating up for the Las Vegas Raiders as they get ready to kick off the regular season in about six weeks and preseason in less than two weeks. Several players are coming off poor 2020 campaigns or a summer with a lot of question marks but here are 5 players trending up based on what we’ve heard from those lucky enough to be in attendance at training camp.

We start with a surprise starter at linebacker:

No. 1: LB Nicholas Morrow

Nicholas Morrow was a potential cut candidate coming into the 2020 season after the Raiders splashed big money on two new starting linebackers and drafted a third in Tanner Muse. However, rather than looking for a new team last year, Morrow became the best LB on the team and was a force to be reckoned with.

The two free agency additions in Cory Littleton and Nick Kwiatkoski had their ups and downs and Muse going on IR helped open the door for Morrow to excel but it was due mostly to his hard work and talent. After a very good 2020 season, Morrow is actually in line to start alongside Littleton in the Raiders’ base 2-linebacker defense.

As quoted by SI.com, Gus Bradley is very high on Morrow and his leadership and said:

"“I really like Nick. Very sharp. Here’s a new system, he’s a guy that you come into the building, we are trying to have him even bring other guys along with him. Sitting in a meeting room, taking notes, rewriting the notes. It’s very important for him to take charge of the defense and he’s in that position where he’s able to do that. So, so far so good with him. Really, really enjoy him, like his leadership and like his attention to detail playing that position.” Source: SI.com"

Going from undrafted to potential full-time starter in 5 years is a great achievement for Morrow as he continues to grind his way to more and more snaps. He was a difference-maker in 2020 and after signing a one-year deal this summer he will be looking to earn a long-term spot in Las Vegas and he’s off to a good start.
