3 worst contracts for the Las Vegas Raiders for the 2021 season
No. 2: Carl Nassib, Defensive End
Sticking with the defensive line, when the Raiders brought in Carl Nassib before the 2020 NFL season, it was seen as a move to bolster their pass rush. In fact, the former star at Penn State was given big-time money to be an answer coming off the edge for the Raiders, and that has certainly not worked out so far.
With the team bringing in Ngakoue and drafting Malcolm Koonce, you have to wonder how Nassib figures into the plans for the Raiders this season. They have other guys who can come in and do situational pass-rushing, and despite playing in 14 games last season, making five starts, Nassib was able to notch only 2.5 sacks.
He was known as a guy who could come off the edge and make plays happen, but he does only have 20.5 sacks during his career and continues to fall down the Raiders depth chart. There is a lot of money invested in him, so he is likely to stick around for another year, but him playing out his entire contract seems like a longshot at this point.
