Las Vegas Raiders: 3 teams that should trade for Marcus Mariota right now

Detroit Lions

Moving our attention to the NFC, there are a few teams that should get on the phone and inquire about Mariota’s availability. One of them happens to be a franchise who has already hit the reset button at the quarterback position this offseason, and that team is the Detroit Lions and head coach Dan Campbell.

This offseason, Detroit traded franchise quarterback Matthew Stafford to the Los Angeles Rams, getting back a starter in Jared Goff in the process. While Goff has led a team to a Super Bowl before, he may not be the long-term answer in Detroit, as he struggled mightily at times running Sean McVay’s offense in Los Angeles.

The Lions got a haul back for Stafford, including multiple first-round picks, and if Goff shows he is not the guy, they are not going to wait around for him to develop. He has looked good so far this summer, gaining a nice rapport with tight end T.J. Hockenson, and the hope for the Lions has to be that a change of scenery will do him good.

If not, Mariota is a real possibility.
