Las Vegas Raiders: 3 reasons Derek Carr will be a top-10 QB in 2021

A better defense will help the offense in a big way

The front office finally listened to the fans and went out and spent money on the defense, while also hiring one of the best defensive coordinators in Gus Bradley. The biggest gripe last season was the lack of secondary and linebacker play that caused many teams to steamroll the Raiders, mainly the Atlanta Falcons blowing out the Raiders, and the tough loss in New England to a much-lesser team in the Patriots.

This year, the Raiders team is much more balanced, and in doing so, they had to make some sacrifices. Signing big-name free agents come with a cost, and that cost was sacrificing many veterans who have been staples on the team for a long time, mainly on the offensive line.

However, the offensive line wasn’t as much of an issue last season as the defense was as a unit.

This season, the Raiders have a legit defense that can help them win games. They won’t be the Pittsburgh Steelers or the Indianapolis Colts, where they can be the reason you will win games, but they can make enough plays to keep them in the game as to not force the offense to become one-dimensional.
