No. 3 Running Back

Who will be the third running back on the depth chart has been up for debate ever since the situation with Jalen Richard (or multiple situations for that matter). The Raiders have the first two spots at running back locked in with incumbent Josh Jacobs and recent free-agent acquisition Kenyan Drake, but after is where the fun starts.

Taking a look at the third running back spot for the Raiders has been muddy, to say the least, and after watching the first preseason game, it has gotten even muddier. With the Raiders splitting the bulk of carries between undrafted rookies Trey Ragas and B.J. Emmons, we saw two running backs that could carry the load.

Ragas outpaced Emmons by four more carries, but their workload numbers were pretty identical, and they both had a rushing touchdown. We aren’t sure who will pace the Raiders backfield next week, but one thing is for sure, both running backs showed the capability to make the roster.

Expect the Week 2 preseason game to give us more clarity, and if I had to guess, I would make the prediction that Ragas will be the third running back in Vegas, but that is merely speculation. Emmons still has a shot to change some minds.
