Las Vegas Raiders: 2021 53-man roster prediction after preseason Game No. 1

Cornerback (6): Trayvon Mullen, Casey Hayward, Damon Arnette, Amik Robertson, Nate Hobbs, Isaiah Johnson

So, how about that Nate Hobbs guy? He showed up in a big way in his first preseason game, with his most notable play coming in the form of a near-strip sack on a corner blitz. If he keeps it up, then he needs to seriously be considered for the starting slot corner job in week one.

Especially since Nevin Lawson is suspended for the first two weeks of the season.

Damon Arnette found a way to be good and bad in the same play. In the first quarter, Arnette was covering Aaron Fuller exceptionally well. He barely allowed Fuller any room to catch the football when Geno Smith threw it to him. Yet, Fuller still caught it.

Not only that, but Arnette couldn’t bring him down and Fuller ran for a 17-yard gain. Arnette’s potential is there, it’s just moments like those that show he still has some work to do before he can be a legit starter.

It also seems that, so far, Trayvon Mullen and Casey Hayward have been a pretty good cornerback duo at camp. Las Vegas will need both of these players to be reliable if this defense wants to have any success this fall.

In Lawson’s place to start the season, look for Isaiah Johnson to make the roster for the Ravens game.
