Las Vegas Raiders: 2021 53-man roster prediction after preseason Game No. 1

QB (3): Derek Carr, Marcus Mariota, Nathan Peterman

Nothing should come as a shock in this position group. Derek Carr is a lock to be the team’s starter in 2021, with Marcus Mariota and Nathan Peterman being the backups. Carr will look to have an even better season in 2021 than he had in 2020.

Mariota is a fantastic backup to have, probably the best in the league. So having him on the roster is a great asset for Las Vegas if Carr suffers an injury at some point, but, because of his skill and the recent injury of Carson Wentz, the Indianapolis Colts may be in the market for Mariota in the coming weeks.

So, prepare yourself now for a potential Mariota trade down the line.

As for Peterman, he actually had a pretty good performance against Seattle. Sure, he threw an interception, but the third-string QB finished the game with 246 passing yards, 29 completions, and a 74.4% completion percentage. For how bad he’s been in the past, these really aren’t bad numbers for a backup quarterback.
