Las Vegas Raiders: Players to watch during Rams joint practices
Tre’Von Moehrig
The Raiders have selected a number of safeties high in the draft recently. Nevertheless, Tre’VonMoehrig seems to be the guy that can patrol centerfield as a single high safety, where the other safeties, like Johnathan Abram and Karl Joseph struggled.
The Raiders and new Defensive Coordinator Gus Bradley need Moehrig to be an instant impact playmaker come Week 1. Moehrig was widely regarded as the top safety in the 2021 draft class and this will be his chance to prove it.
Sean McVay and the Rams have always had a creative offense. Jet sweeps, play actions passes, combo routes, option routes, they have it all. However, with Stafford taking over, the team has more chances to throw it deep, and truly take the bandaid off.
Moehrig will be patrolling the center of the secondary and will be in a chess match with Stafford.
Between the Rams having a creative, complex offense and receivers like Woods, Kupp, Van Jefferson, and Desean Jackson, Moehrig has his work cut out for him. Reports out of Rams camp state that Jackson has looked like his old self, which was a top deep threat in the NFL, therefore Moehrig will need to be at the top of his game.
