Las Vegas Raiders: Keys to victory in 2021 preseason Game No. 2

Offense

The running game

The NFL is a passing game, that much is sure, but for the Raiders, one of the keys to victory here will be the pacing of the running game. The Raiders rolled out a two-headed monster in running backs Trey Ragas and B.J. Emmons during their first preseason game vs the Seattle Seahawks, and they both played very well.

The rookie backs, who are fighting for the number three running back position and a roster spot, both came through spectacularly last week. The Raiders will need to rely heavily on these two again to have any chance at victory, as they both look to earn a spot on the 53-man roster.

Consistent Quarterback play

Apparently, we will be seeing the season debut of backup quarterback Marcus Mariota, but to what degree, we are not sure. Coming off an injury, he probably will only make a cameo role today as he gets back up to playing speed.

So the burden will lie on the shoulders of Nathan Peterman, and while the fifth-year quarterback was not spectacular vs the Seahawks in week one of preseason, he was solid and consistent. This is all the Raiders will need from Peterman, as they will likely rely on a heavy dosage of running from their backs.

If Peterman can show the consistency he did in week one, Las Vegas should be in prime position for yet another victory.
