The Las Vegas Raiders squeaked out a win on the road against the Los Angeles Rams 17-16 on a missed two-point conversion.
This Las Vegas Raiders second preseason game was a culmination of a week-long joint practice with the Los Angeles Rams that was marred by brawls, causing Jon Gruden to end practice early on Thursday. But this Saturday night, a 17-16 win against Los Angeles, belonged to one person, and one person only Nate Hobbs.
Hobbs got off to a strong start to the preseason in his first game last week with his sack of Geno Smith off a blitz from the slot, almost causing a fumble, but tonight he blew that performance away, but I’ll get to that later. Once again Nate Peterman played the entire game with Marcus Mariota still limited, but can hopefully play in next week’s preseason finale against old Bay Area rival San Francisco 49ers.
Peterman played okay once again, even though the offense was pretty stagnant in the second and third quarters. He threw for 172 yards on 16 completions, with one touchdown on a beautiful double move route from Marcell Ateman.
Trey Ragas and B.J. Emmons were productive once again on the ground with Ragas contributing in the passing game as well, while also jumping over the pile for a touchdown, and Emmons picking up tough yards on the ground. The linebacking group might be getting thin out there with Nicholas Morrow getting injured in Thursday’s joint practice, and Javin White getting injured tonight not being able to walk off on his own, then getting carted off according to the Athletics Vic Tafur
Here are three things we learned about the Raiders in their second preseason game of the 2021 season.
