Las Vegas Raiders at San Francisco: 3 bold predictions in 2021 Preseason Game No. 3
Nate Hobbs nabs another interception
One of the bigger stars of the preseason for the Raiders has been cornerback Nate Hobbs, who pretty much has locked down a starting role on this defense. Given the opportunity to win the slot cornerback job out of camp, especially with Nevin Lawson suspended for the first two weeks of the regular season, all Hobbs has done is produce.
After a huge sack in the preseason opener against Seattle, Hobbs had a nice interception on a deep ball against the Los Angeles Rams and could be in for another highlight-reel play in this one. He will be going up against Jimmy Garoppolo, a proven winner at the NFL level, and Trey Lance, a rookie who could start in Year 1, so these will be the best signal-callers he will have faced up until this point.
It won’t matter, and when all is said and done, I like Hobbs to grab his second interception of the preseason and put his name in ink in terms of the starting nickel corner on this defense. He is proving to be quite the steal as a fifth-round pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, and he will make his presence felt once again on Sunday.
