Las Vegas Raiders: 2021 53-man roster prediction after preseason finale

Cornerback (6): Trayvon Mullen, Casey Hayward, Damon Arnette, Amik Robertson, Nate Hobbs, Isaiah Johnson

Hobbs has looked great all preseason, recording a sack and an interception in his first two games. So, it should pretty much be a done deal that Nate Hobbs has earned the starting slot corner job over Nevin Lawson.

Since Lawson is suspended, and honestly not that great of a player, then he should get cut before the season begins.

Casey Hayward and Trayvon Mullen seem to be the most obvious starters in week one, as both players have been getting the most starting reps during training camp. Those jobs are well earned, as both Hayward and Mullen seem to be the best corners on the team by a good margin.

The only real wildcard is Arnette. Arnette showed promise last season but was ultimately a victim of rookie mistakes and injuries. In the preseason, he seems to have improved a bit, but he might not be ready for a starting job yet.

However, don’t be surprised if Las Vegas still works him in a lot at cornerback. The coaching staff likes his energy and physicality, and they aren’t quite ready to give up on their first-round pick.
