Las Vegas Raiders: 3 biggest mistakes from the current 53-man roster
Not keeping six wide receivers
During the preseason, there was a lot of talk surrounding the wide receiver group, as veterans like Willie Snead and John Brown were brought in to complement younger players in Henry Ruggs III and Bryan Edwards. From the start, we knew Edwards, Ruggs, and Hunter Renfrow were going to make the team, and based on his relationship with Derek Carr, Zay Jones seemed like a lock as well.
The real battle was supposed to come down to that ‘sixth’ wide receiver spot, as Brown was seen as a vet that should definitely make the 53-man roster. Instead, he asked for his release, and while the Raiders did keep Brown, they wrapped up the cuts with only five wide receivers, something that could end up being a mistake.
Las Vegas Raiders: Does Derek Carr finally have top-tier fantasy football value in 2021?
The Las Vegas Raiders are hoping for wins in 2021, but can quarterback Derek Carr help your fantasy team win in 2021 as well?
Luckily, the Silver and Black were able to bring back Dillon Stoner and D.J. Turner to the practice squad, but they did lose Keelan Doss. In a perfect world, Stoner or Turner should have made the 53-man roster, as they played well enough to earn a spot, and I believe that before the team welcomes in Baltimore in Week 1, there will be six active wideouts on the roster.
